For the first time scientists from KubSU and Kyungpook National University (KNU) discussed the problems of Postmodernism

On February 18, 2021, the round-table discussion “Postmodernism in Modern Russian Literature” was held at Kuban State University in online format. Russian Literature. For the first time, in many years of successful interuniversity cooperation, scientists of Kyungpook National University (KNU) (Republic of Korea) met with leading scientists of the Department of History of Russian Literature, Theory and Criticism of the Faculty of Philology in Kuban State University to discuss the problems of modern Russian Literature.

Russian Literature has never left any foreigner untouched, especially the famous classics. The Literature of Postmodernism or, rather, ”new” Modernism is little known beyond the borders of Russia. Therefore, the idea to introduce Korean lit majors and Russian scholars to the works of modern Russian authors, such as Zakhar Prilepin, Evgeny Vodolazkin, Lyudmila Ulitskaya, Mikhail Shishkin, Dmitry Bykov, etc., did not arise by chance, and was sincerely welcomed by colleagues from Kyungpook National University (KNU). From the side of KubSU, short but interesting reports were made by: Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Head of the Department of History of Russian Literature, Theory and Criticism Evgenia Alekseevna Zhirkova, staff of the department – Professor Larisa Porfirievna Golikova, Associate Professor Olga Alexandrovna Grimova, Associate Professor Yuri Georgievich Pastushenko, as well as the Head of the Department of Foreign Literature and Comparative Cultural Studies Professor Alexey Viktorovich Tatarinov. From KNU the following professors took part in the discussion: Professor, Head of the Institute of Russian and Eurasian Studies Lee Kangyung, Professor of the Department of Russian Language and Literature Lee Dae Woo, Professor, Vice-Rector for Innovation in Education Kim Jonggil and Professor, Head of the Department of Russian Language and Literature Yoon Youngsun.  

The Head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language (RFL) Professor Valery Petrovich Abramov, teachers of the RFL Department Associate Professor Yulia Faridovna Okovitaya, Associate Professor Irina Nikolaevna Lekareva (currently a guest teacher of the Russian Language at KNU and a teacher of the Department of the Russian Language and Literature at Korean University Baek Kyunhee shared their experience of teaching Russian in the conditions of organizing the educational process in the online format.

In total, there were 19 people who took part in the round table discussion, among them it is worth noting the permanent coordinator of the annual conference “Russia and Korea: mutual interest”, Professor of the Department of Foreign Regional Studies and Oriental Studies, Faculty of History, Sociology and Internationa Relations) Yuri Grigoryevich Smertin, a permanent participant of such conferences – the Dean of the Faculty of History, Sociology and International Relations Alexander Vladimirovich Vashchenko, coordinator of cooperation between KubSU and Kyungpook National University, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Department Irina Vladimirovna Rayushkina, as well as Director of the the International Affairs Department in KubSU Galina Nikolaevna Govorova, who in her welcoming speech expressed hope for the creation and sustainable development of a scientific collaboration of philologists of KubSU and Kyungpook National University.
