A graduate and a student of KubSU were included in the Russian national team for the European Football Championship-2020

On June 2, 2021, the final application of the Russian national football team for Euro 2020 was published.
For the first time in history, 2 representatives of Kuban State University were included in the national team: a graduate of the Institute of Geography, Geology, Tourism and Service, halfback Daniil Fomin and a 5th-year student of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology and Communication Studies, goalkeeper Matvey Safonov. In different years, the guys played for FC of KubSU.

It is noted that on June 1, 2021, another historical event took place – the debut of Matvey Safonov for the Russian national team in a companionable match with the Polish national team. In the 63rd minute of the match, with the score 1:1, Matvey came on the field, replacing Anton Shunin.

"I was preparing for the game, but the debut was a little unexpected for me. Now we are preparing for a rather important match, and I am pleased that today I was entrusted with playing time. This is my debut, what else can I say. Gintaras Stauche said to play calmly, not to worry. To be honest, I wasn't too worried, I was sure that everything would go well, because I was preparing. I have already said that the task for me is to prepare as if I am going to play. So I will continue and if you need me, I will be ready. I will be happy to get to Euro 2020, if I can play, it will be even better, " the RFU press service quotes Safonov as saying.

We wish the guys good luck!
